Home Cinema Lighting Project 8 - Hospice support project
Previously a storeroom, this is now an attractive home cinema at the Bluebell Wood children's hospice in Sheffield.
One of our regular customers among the profesional installation community is ET Home Cinema of South Yorkshire, which has used our fibre optic and LED products to very good effect in several projects.
So, when ET's MD Colin Scott invited us to support a project to create a home cinema in a children's hospice in Sheffield we were very happy to make our own modest contribution in the form of a star ceiling kit.
This project was part of an ongoing charitable programme coordinated by Ian Morrish, Sales Manager of ISE - the European trade show for the professional AV and electronic systems industry. This initiative harnesses the goodwill, expertise - and cash - of the UK's home cinema and home automation companies to create home cinema facilities for deserving institutions. Apart from the CEDIA members who contributed to the project, it also received support from a local joinery firm and the local branch of City Electrical Factors.
Installation of the fibre optics was pretty straightforward, since the fibres went into the ceiling tiles. You can see from the photo that the fibres have been left projecting very slightly, which gives a slight halo effect around each star. For a more natural starry sky effect the fibres are best trimmed as close to the ceiling as possible.
Just weeks earlier, the room had been in use as a store.
